SUMMARY:2024 December Networking Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:CASA Representative Norma Mendoza to Showcase This OC-based Mentor Program at the December Cypress Chamber Networking Breakfast \n\n\n\nThe Cypress Chamber of Commerce will host Norma Mendoza from CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates - at our December Networking Breakfast. This event will be held Tuesday\, December 10th at the Residence Inn by Marriott at 4931 Katella Avenue\, Cypress/Los Alamitos starting at 7:30 a.m. Norma will explain how business professionals can get involved to become a mentor to foster youth here in Orange County. CASA works strictly with youth in foster care\, and their volunteers have access to court hearings to advocate with the judge overseeing the youth's case regarding the child's best interests. CASA volunteers become a powerful voice making a real difference at a critical turning point in the child's life. Norma will share additional ways to become involved in this important program\, as well.\n\n \n\nTo kick off the Holidays\, the Cypress Chamber has adopted this program and is inviting breakfast attendees to help CASA by bringing a $25.00 Gift Card for gasoline or fast food that will be used to support the participants of the foster program including Chevron\, Shell\, and Arco as well as Panda Express\, Yougurtland\, and In-N-Out.\n\n \n\nNorma Mendoza started her time at CASA as an intern in 2019 and upon graduating from Chapman University was brought on as a staff member within the Volunteer Recruitment Team. In 2021 she became the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator and the Lead for CASA OC's Diversity Committee. Today\, Norma is the Volunteer Recruitment and DEIB Manager at CASA OC.\n\n \n\nWith a passion for service and social justice\, Norma has focused her efforts on recruiting volunteers who mirror the demographics of the youth that we serve as well as building relationships with the O.C. community to further their mission. Born and raised in Monterrey\, Mexico\, Norma moved to the United States with her family in 2011 at the age of 13. She attended Chapman University and\, in 2020\, received degrees in Sociology and Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. At Chapman\, Norma learned about CASA through her sorority\, Kappa Alpha Theta\, whose national philanthropy is CASA.\n\n \n\nEach Chamber breakfast guest will also have an opportunity to stand to introduce themselves and share a little about their business before the program begins.\n\n \n\nReservations are highly recommended to secure your spot for the monthly breakfasts and can be made online. Cost of the breakfast is $25.00. Early Bird Registration is $20.00.
